Men's tennis team beats Bates College
The Eastern Florida State College men's tennis team remained unbeaten with a victory over Bates College Thursday at Titan Tennis Center.
The Titans, who are now 5-0 on the season, defeated Bates College 9-0.
Hugo Car and Lucas Gonzalez won 8-2 at No. 1 doubles, while Jack Dixon and Colin Tavares won 8-5 at No. 2 and Eric Tripathi and Jett Leong teamed up to win 8-4 at No. 3 doubles.
Up 3-0, the singles matches saw four of the six win in straight sets as Car won 6-2, 6-1, Dixon won 6-1, 6-4 , Leong win 7-5, 6-2 and Eavan Attie won 6-2, 6-3.
Eric Tripathi had the match of the day, battling Bates College's Alexander Gujarathi at No. 2 singles. Both sets went to a tiebreaker with Tripathi winning the first 7-6(5) and the second 7-6(4).
Gonzalez also went to a tiebreaker after losing the first set 6-3 he battled back to win 6-1 to go to a tiebreaker. The sophomore would win the tiebreaker 10-8 to pick up the win.
Eastern Florida State College will host Keiser University Saturday at 2 p.m. at Titan Tennis Center.
