Men's tennis team cruises to second win of season
The Eastern Florida State College men's tennis team defeated Atlantis University Saturday morning at Titan Tennis Center.
The Titans improved to 2-0 on the season with the 7-0 victory.
Eastern Florida State College swept the doubles as Hugo Car and Lucas Gonzalez won at No. 1 doubles 6-2, then Jack Dixon and Colin Tavares won No. 2 doubles 6-4 and George Myers-Millington and Eric Tripathi won 6-4 at No. 3 doubles.
Car won the first set 6-0, but lost the second set 5-7 sending the match to a third set. In the third set, Car was down 3-2 in the tiebreaker, but broke Marcelo Rodriguez and then held serve to lead 4-3. From there Car would win the final two points to win the match.
Tripathi came back from a 3-0 deficit to win the first set 7-6(5) and then picked up the win with a 6-1 win in the second set.
Dixon won the No. 3 singles in straight sets as did Jett Leong in No. 4 singles. Colin Tavares and Victor Arrese also both picked up the win.
The men's tennis team will play Warner University on Friday at Titan Tennis Center beginning at 2 p.m.
