Men's tennis player Oervad playing in ITA Cup

Eastern Florida State College men's tennis player Frederik Oervad is in Georgia this weekend to compete in the ITA Cup.

The freshman from Denmark is one of the top eight junior college players competing at the Rome Tennis Center in Rome, Georgia beginning Thursday.

Oervad is 7-1 this fall and earned an at-large bid after finishing second in the ITA Regional Championship in Tifton, Ga. He will open the ITA Cup against No. 4 seed Nicolas Rousset from Seward County Community College at 11 a.m. Rousset won the Central Region title.

Tyler Junior College's Marcus Walters is the No. 1 seed in the tournament.

Each of the four divisional singles champions (Division II, Division III, NAIA and JUCO) will be automatically entered in the 2018 Oracle ITA National Fall Championships, which takes place November 7-11, in Surprise, Arizona.
