Men's tennis team plays well on first day of Embry Riddle Invitational

The Eastern Florida State College men's tennis team played well on the first day of the Embry Riddle Invitational on Friday.

Overall, the men went 7-3 in singles matches against four-year schools.

"A solid first day for the Titans to start the fall season. The results were in our favor most of the time which is a positive, but I am most encouraged by our competitiveness," Eastern Florida State College men's tennis assistant coach Brandon Stokes said. "The boys are eager to train and improve and it showed with their competitiveness today."

Frederik Oervad and Nils Michel each won two matches in the Gold Flight while Fabricio Galvan won both of his matches in the Blue Flight.

"I walked onto the court feeling good with my strikes and quick feet during the match," Galvan said. "At the end, it was all a matter of mental toughness and my physical shape at the end of the second set. I feel very happy with what I did on the court today."

Adriel Azucey also picked up a win in the Gold Flight. Michel and Oervad picked up a win in the Gold Flight of doubles.

The men's team will begin day 2 of the competition at 11 a.m. in Daytona Beach.
