Baseball team hosts Indian River Friday night
The Eastern Florida State College baseball team is back at Bruce Bochy Field Friday night looking to stop a four-game losing streak.
The Titans are hosting Indian River State College in Game 2 of the three-game series after the Pioneers took the first game 9-8 on Wednesday.
On Wednesday the Titans scored three runs in the eighth inning to cut the lead to 9-8 but could not tie the game. Kevin Silva had three hits and Alejandro Rodriguez went 2-for-4 with a home run and drove in three runs. In four games against Indian River State College, Rodriguez is 5-for-13.
Pablo Barquero Jackson will take the mound looking to bounce back from a rough start against Miami Dade. Barquero is 4-4 with a 2.94 ERA this season and is 1-0 against the Pioneers, allowing one run in six innings earlier this season.
Eastern Florida State College is 9-7 in the Southern Conference and in second place while Indian River State College is 7-9 heading into Friday's game. The teams are 2-2 in the first four meetings this season.
The conference matchup begins at 6 p.m. at Bruce Bochy Field and admission is free.
