The Eastern Florida State College baseball team defeated Hillsborough Community College 8-5 to improve to 2-0 on the season.
Sophomores Alvaro Valdez, Dilan Espinal, Steven Lugo and Kevin Silva each had two hits in the game and Alex Carpenter picked up the win in relief as Carpenter and Andres Rodriguez tossed 3 2/3 innings of scoreless baseball. Espinal, Lugo and Valdez all drove in two runs as well.
The Titans struck out 14 in the win and will be back on the road Monday, traveling to Polk State College for a 5 p.m. game. The home opener will be Tuesday evening against Seminole State College at Bruce Bochy Field as Carter Stewart will make his Titans debut at 6 p.m. Admission is free.
