Iowa Western wrapped up Day 2 of action with a 4-2 victory over Eastern Oklahoma State in a Pool D game at the NJCAA Division I National Championship Tournament in Melbourne, Florida.

Oskar Greven got Iowa Western on the board as he put a nice cross into the back of the net three minutes into the contest and then Timothy Mason made it 2-0 as his shot just got past a diving goalkeeper.

“We have been wanting to play like that all year and we just haven’t been able to so it was nice to see us get clicking and it gave the guys some confidence,” “This is our team, we press hard, we work hard, compete and grind and that is what we will do tomorrow. I feel like we have more depth than anyone in the country and we have guys that can step up.”

Eastern Oklahoma State cut the lead in half as Gustavo Teodoro scored on a pass from Eduardo Santos with 10:24 remaining in the first half.

Iowa Western once again started fast as Wawa Palga scored in the first minute of the half. He would score again two minutes into the half to take a 4-1 lead in the contest.

Eastern Oklahoma State College finishes the season 12-6-3. Iowa Western will play Salt Lake Community College in the final game of pool play Tuesday.

“It will be a great game, I think it will be a good game and will come down to who puts away their chances,” Brown said. “Today we put away our chances but we have to do it tomorrow.”
