Women's cross country team ranked 20th in the first national poll

The Eastern Florida State College women's cross country team is ranked No. 20 in the first U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association poll released on Wednesday.

The Titans made history on Wednesday, becoming nationally ranked in their first season. The team has had solid finishes in each of the first two meets this season and begin the season No. 20 in the poll. Seminole State College is one place ahead of the Titans, starting at No. 19.

Southern Idaho begins the year at No. 1 in the poll and are the defending champion for the NJCAA Division I Cross Country Championship. Hutchinson Community College is ranked second in the poll with El Paso Community College third, New Mexico Junior College fourth and Iowa Central Community College rounding out the top five. Rivals El Paso (Texas) CC and New Mexico JC finished third and fourth respectively at last year's nationals. El Paso is led by reigning national champion Faith Nyathi. Iowa Central has been ranked No. 1 at least once in each of the past five seasons.

Eastern Florida State College will travel to Tallahassee for the FSU Invite on Friday, October 7.
