Women's volleyball team falls to No.1 FSW in four sets

The Eastern Florida State College women's volleyball team battled No. 1 Florida Southwestern Saturday afternoon, falling in four sets at Titan Field House.

The 17th-ranked Titans lots to the Bucs 25-18, 25-16, 12-25 and 25-14 to fall to 6-6 in the conference.

Down 1-0 and 22-8 in the second set, the Titans went on a nice run as Daphne Wibranowski and Emma Kiser each recorded kills and then Gaia Riedmuller had back-to-back aces and the lead was cut to eight, 23-15. But the Titans could not get any closer. But the run gave them confidence and down 2-0, the third set would be different.

EFSC head coach Melito Eleutiza mixed up the starting lineup for the third set and the group responded as Rachele Braccio recorded three kills and a big block early in the set to give the Titans a 12-6 lead. Another quick point forced Florida Southwestern to call timeout. After a Bucs point the Titans went on another run as Libby Ashline had a big kill and Riedmuller recorded another ace and the Titans lead was extended to 18-8. Another Kiser kill would help the Titans pick up the 25-12 win in third set.

But the Florida Southwestern would go on a couple of big runs and wrap up the win with a 25-14 win in the fourth set.

Eastern Florida State College will travel to No. 15 Daytona State College on Wednesday night at 6 p.m. and will be broadcast locally on WDSC-TV. The Titans will wrap up the regular season on Saturday afternoon against Santa Fe College at 2 p.m. Saturday will be Sophomore Day at Titan Field House.
