Women's volleyball team falls in five sets in conference road match

The Eastern Florida State College women's volleyball team lost a tight match with Polk State College in a Citrus Conference match on the road.

The Titans lost in five sets, winning 25-16, 17-25, 25-21, 11-25 and 12-15 as Polk State College has won both meetings this season.

The Titans took hold of the first set early as Juliana De Acharan and Dominae Jordan posted aces and Eastern Florida State College was up 4-1. Polk State College would battle back to tie things at 4-4. It would be the first of five ties in the first set, but the Titans pilled away, scoring six of the next eight points and rolled to a 25-16 first set win. Dominae Jordan had four kills and the ace in the set.

In the second set, Polk State College responded by jumping out to a 9-1 lead and went on to post the victory to tie the match 1-1.

Eastern Florida State College would once again take the lead in the match with a 25-21 win.

Down 2-1 Polk State came out hot in the fourth set, rolling to a 25-11 win to send the match to the fifth set.

The fifth set was all Eagles early as they took a 3-0 and 6-1 lead, making the side switch up 8-3. But the Titans would roar back to tie things in the fifth set 9-9 behind a couple of kills from Jordan. Jordan would tie the match 10-10 with another kill. They would trade points until Polk State took the final three points to win the set 15-12 and the match.

Jordan would have 11 digs to go with her team-best 22 kills. Teammates Sophia Knowles and Emma Kiser each had seven kills. Juliana De Acharan finished with 34 assists and 12 digs in the match.

Eastern Florida State College is now 9-5 overall and 2-5 in the conference and will travel to Hillsborough Community College on Monday for a conference match at 6 p.m. The Titans will be back at Titan Field House Wednesday against Hillsborough CC for a 6 p.m. match that will be broadcast live on WEFS-TV.
