Women's volleyball team sweeps Santa Fe

The Eastern Florida State College women's volleyball team picked up a conference win on the road.

The 18th ranked Titans defeated Santa Fe College in straight sets in a Citrus Conference match Wednesday night, winning 25-21, 25-17 and 25-10.

The two teams traded points early in the first set but tied 16-16 the Titans began to pull away as Sophia Knowles started things off with a kill. The Titans would rush out to a 24-19 lead and Bobbie Schwantz hit a winner to give the Titans the first set.

The second set was much like the first as the two teams traded points early once again. Tied 9-9 the Titans once again pulled away as Emma Kiser had a big kill and the Titans would go on a 6-0 run to lead 16-10. A Dominae Jordan kill made it 19-12 and up 20-13 there was a long rally that Juliana De Acharan finished to give the Titans an eight-point lead. They would go on to post the 25-17 win on a Kiser kill.

The third set saw De Acharan start off serving well as the Titans jumped out to a 9-0 lead as Schwantz and Kiser each had a couple of kills. The team would continue to cruise and finished off the match with a Mariana Saba ace to win 25-10.

The win snapped a two-game losing streak for the Titans as they improved to 9-4 overall and 2-4 in the conference. They will travel to Polk State College on Saturday for a conference match at 2 p.m.
