Women's volleyball team falls to Daytona State College

The Eastern Florida State College women's volleyball team lost to Daytona State College in a Citrus Conference match Saturday afternoon at Titan Field House.

The No. 12 Titans lost 17-25, 25-16, 23-25 and 14-25 to the No. 19 Falcons.

In the first set, Eastern Florida State College kept things close as Dominae Jordan's ace tied things 8-8 in the first set and it would remain back and forth but Daytona State College would score nine of the final 11 points to take the first set.

The second set saw Juliana De Acharan open with a couple of aces as the Titans got off to a 4-0 lead and would increase the lead highlighted by a couple of Paulina Dobrinova kills. Another Jordan ace made it 18-10 and the Titans would finish off the second set with a 25-16 win.

The third set saw Daytona State lead by as many as five but the Titans would rally to tie things 18-18. Daytona State went on a four-point run to lead 22-18 before EFSC would fight back not once but twice. Emma Kiser had two straight kills to cut the Falcons lead to 24-23 but ultimately the Falcons held on for the 25-23 win.

Daytona State rode the momentum into the fourth set and picked up the key road win.

Jordan finished with a team-high 11 kills while Sophia Knowles and Kiser each had nine. Gaia Riedmuller tied a season high with 19 digs in the match.

Eastern Florida State College, who falls to 8-4 overall and 1-4 in the conference, will travel to Santa Fe on Wednesday evening for a 6 p.m. match against the Saints.
