Volleyball team sweeps Indian River

The Eastern Florida State College women's volleyball team picked up its first Citrus Conference victory of the season Saturday afternoon.

The 1oth-ranked Titans defeated Indian River State College in straight sets 25-15, 25-15, 25-16 at Titan Field House.

Up two early in the first set, Eastern Florida State College would score seven of the next 10 points to take a 14-8 lead. Juliana De Acharan hit her second ace of the set and the Titans would roll to a 25-15 win in the first set.

Sophomore Rachele Braccio had a couple of early kills in the second set to get the Titans out to a 4-1 lead but Indian River State College would battle back and the match was tied 10-10 before Eastern Florida State College went on another big run, this time scoring eight of the next nine points. Emma Kiser had a kill that finished off the second set for the Titans.

The third set saw the Titans jump out to a quick 12-4 advantage as Dominae Jordan, Kiser and Sofia Kamke all had kills. Gaia Riedmuller would record an ace as did Bobbie Schwantz as the Titans would lead 17-8 and the Titans went on to clinch the win, 25-16.

Kamke finished with 10 kills while Jordan and Kiser each recorded eight. Riedmuller had 16 digs and De Acharan finished with 26 assists.

Eastern Florida State College, who is now 8-2 overall and 1-2 in the conference, will travel to No. 1 Florida Southwestern on Wednesday for a conference game before hosting No. 18 Daytona State College next Saturday at noon.
