Volleyball team falls to No. 2 Miami Dade on the road

The Eastern Florida State College women's volleyball team lost on the road to No. 2 Miami Dade College in four sets on Wednesday night.

The 10th-ranked Titans won the first set 25-22 before losing the next two sets 25-20 and 25-12. The fourth set was close, but the Sharks pulled it out 25-21 in a Citrus Conference match.

In the first set, the two teams were tied 14 times but Sofia Kamke, Bobbie Schwantz had big kills down the stretch as the Titans scored three of the final five points to win 25-22.

Miami Dade jumped out to a big lead in the second set, leading 7-3 but the Titans cut it to one on an Emma Kiser ace. The Sharks would go on another run, outscoring the Titans 7-1 to take a commanding lead. The Titans would cut it to three late, but Miami Dade scored the final two points to tie things up.

The third set was all Miami Dade as the Sharks would finish strong to take a commanding 2-1 lead.

 The fourth set was once again tight for the first few points, but Miami Dade would score four straight to turn a 7-7 match into an 11-7 lead. The Titans would make one more run and tie things up 17-17 and it stayed tight until Miami Dade would score the final four points to win in four sets.

The Titans fell to 7-2 overall and 0-2 in the conference. Miami Dade is now 9-1 overall and 2-0 in the Citrus Conference.

Eastern Florida State College will host Indian River State College Saturday at 2 p.m. at Titan Field House in a conference match. The match will be free to attend and fans can watch it live online at the EFSC Titans YouTube page.
