Volleyball team begins week at home against Daytona State Tuesday

The Eastern Florida State College women's volleyball team begins a busy week with three conference matches. 

The Titans, who are 15-5 overall and 6-4 in the Suncoast Conference and receiving votes in the latest NJCAA Division I poll, will host No. 16 Daytona State College Tuesday night at 6 p.m. at Titan Field House.

The match will be the second meeting this season as the two teams battled in a five-set thriller that the Titans lost 25-23, 22-25, 28-26, 16-25, 13-15. It was just the second time in the past 15 meetings that went to five sets as the Falcons have won 13 of the past 15 meetings. 

Daytona State College's Eddie Schultz leads Region 8 in blocks per set with 1.9 which is also 19th in the nation. Teammate Riley Wyatt averages 3.64 digs per set this season which is fifth in the state.

Eastern Florida State College's SofiaKamke is tied for eighth in the state with 172 this season and is second in the state in aces per set. Teammate Gaia Riedmuller is fourth in digs with 249 and digs per set at 3.72.

Then the Titans will travel to Florida Gulf Coast University to play No. 2 Florida Southwestern on Thursday night at 6 p.m. and then on Saturday they will travel to No. 17 Hillsborough Community College for a match at 2 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.

Tuesday's match will be at 6 p.m. on Titan Field House and admission is free.
