Women's volleyball team hosts Polk State College Thursday

The Eastern Florida State College women's volleyball team has a couple of key Suncoast Conference matches this week at Titan Field House.

The Titans, who are 13-5 overall and 4-4 in the conference, will host Polk State College on Thursday night at Titan Field House. Eastern Florida State College defeated Polk State College for the first time since 2017 in the first meeting this season on the road. The Titans won that match in four sets and are coming off a four-set victory against Indian River State College on Saturday.

They are tied for fourth in the latest Region 8 Coaches Poll which is the highest ranking in the past decade.

Polk State College is 7-9 overall and 3-5 In the conference and is coming off a straight-set victory against Santa Fe on Saturday. Kaila Ru is leading Region 8 in hitting percentage, hitting .362 this season.

Eastern Florida State College is led by a couple of freshmen as Gaia Riedmuller is among the Region 8 leaders in digs with 236 and digs per set, averaging 3.75 digs per set. Teammate Juliana DeAcharan is fourth in the state in assists per set, averaging 7.48.

The Titans will also host Santa Fe on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. and it will be Sophomore Day at Titan Field House as the sophomore class will be recognized following the match.
