Volleyball team hits road Thursday for conference match

The Eastern Florida State College women's volleyball team is back in action Thursday evening, traveling to Santa Fe for a Suncoast Conference match.

The Titans are one of four teams that are 2-2 in the conference after two weeks. Eastern Florida State College is 11-3 overall and have won two straight heading into Thursday's 6 p.m. match at Santa Fe.

"Santa Fe is another good team in the conference, it really doesn't matter who you play, there are no easy matches in this conference," Eastern Florida State College women's volleyball coach Melito Eleutiza said. "Santa Fe always plays hard and is always a tough opponent. We have to keep our composure and just go out and play our game. We are competing very well and showing what kind of team we are, we are in a good state and the players have good chemistry and we just have to do our job and the rest will take care of itself."

Eastern Florida State College's Emma Kiser was named the NJCAA Division I Offensive Player of the Week on Wednesday and will lead a strong group of Titans into Thursday's match.

Santa Fe's Katelyn Crofts is second in Region 8 with 1.07 blocks per set this season while teammate Faith Marquis is averaging 4.24 digs per set which is fourth-best in the state.

Nicole DePaula and EFSC's Sofia Kamke are tied for third in the state in service aces per set, 0.65.

Thursday night's match will begin at 6 p.m. and will be shown live online at The Saints Sports Network, santafesaints.com/SaintsSportsNetwork
