Emma Kiser named the NJCAA Division I Offensive Player of the Year

Eastern Florida State College women's volleyball player Emma Kiser was named the NJCAA Division I Offensive Player of the Week on Wednesday.

The freshman from Cumming, Georgia is the first Titans player to be named NJCAA Division I player of the week after leading Eastern Florida State College to a 2-0 week.

"It was very unexpected, it caught me by surprise when I found out during film session, but I feel like I would not be in this position if it wasn't for my teammates and coaches always supporting me, especially my parents who have been able to be at the past two games. It was really awesome to have them here," Kiser said. "It is really awesome and just makes me really want to get back out on the court again Thursday. I know that if I keep working hard, do what I do best which is just go out and have fun playing, I know I can continue to play at a high rate."

The right side hitter finished the week with a .561 hitting percentage, recording 35 kills in eight sets for a 4.38 kills per set average. She also had a 1.00 assist per set average for the Titans.

"I have only really been hitting for two years and this is the highest percentage I have ever had, so I can't complain. Two years ago, I didn't even know what hitting percentage was so it has been really nice," Kiser said.

For the season, Kiser has 97 kills to go with 103 assists for the 11-3 Titans.

Eastern Florida State College will travel to Santa Fe on Thursday for a conference match at 6 p.m. before hosting No. 1-ranked Florida Southwestern on Saturday afternoon. Saturday's match will begin at 3 p.m. at Titan Field House and admission is free.
