Volleyball team loses at Daytona State College

The Eastern Florida State College women's volleyball team lost a Mid-Florida Conference road match against Daytona State College Tuesday night.

The Titans lost in three sets, 25-18, 25-13, 25-20 to fall to 7-11 overall and 0-5 in the conference.

Daytona State College got off to a good start, leading 4-1 but kills by Maredis Colon, Madeline Browne and then Keydelise Nieves tied it 6-6. But that would be as close as they would get in the first set as the Falcons took off to increase the lead to as many as seven before posting the 25-18 win.

Daytona State jumped out to a big lead in the second set and rolled to a 25-13 win.

It looked as if the Falcons would win the third set easily as well, leading 14-8 but a kill from Maddy Campbell and a block from Renae Watson seemed to turn things around as Maria Rentas went on a run serving, tying the match 14-14 on an ace. Colon followed with an ace to give the Titans a 16-15 lead but down the stretch Daytona State would come up with the big points to win the third set 25-20.

Eastern Florida State College will host the College of Central Florida Thursday night in the final regular season home match for the Titans. The match will begin at 7 p.m. at Titan Field House and admission is free.
