Volleyball team loses pair at tournament

The Eastern Florida State College women's volleyball team lost a pair of matches Saturday at the Florida State College at Jacksonville tournament.

The Titans opened with a straight set loss to Florida Southwestern and then fell to host Florida State College at Jacksonville in the final match of the tournament.

In the opener, the Titans lost 25-15, 25-15 and 25-14 to fall to 5-4 on the season. Sophomore Nyasia John had six kills while freshmen Cassandra Gregory and Shaine Horvath each had five. Gregory led the team with 15 assists.

In the final match of the tournament, the Titans battled Florida State College at Jacksonville in a tight three set affair, falling 28-26, 25-22, 25-23.

Freshman Maredis Colon had a season-high 16 kills in the match and Keydelis Nieves had 15 digs and seven kills. Gregory finished with 24 assists.

The Titans (5-5) will travel to Webber International to face the JV team Tuesday at 6 p.m. The volleyball team will be back at Titan Field House Friday night, hosting the same Webber International team at 6 p.m.
