Volleyball team opens in Arizona this weekend

The Eastern Florida State College women's volleyball team opens the regular season this weekend in Arizona, competing in the Beat The Heat tournament in Phoenix.

The Titans will open with three games on Friday beginning with host Phoenix College at noon. Then they will play Chandler-Gilbert Community College at 4 p.m. and wrap up the day with Kankakee Community College at 6 p.m.

Then on Saturday the women's volleyball team will play Imperial Valley at noon and then wrap up the tournament with a match against Glendale Community College at 2 p.m.

"We are excited about playing this weekend, we are a little concerned about injuries but we have a deep roster," Eleutiza said. "We have the capacity to compete and have a successful weekend. The girls are very excited about the trip and opening the season."

The Titans return seven players from last year's team including Maddy Campbell and Laura Azevedo who made the Mid-Florida Conference second team as freshmen.

Eastern Florida State College will host Webber International on Friday, Aug. 30 in the home opener beginning at 6 p.m. Admission to matches at Titan Field House are free.
