Volleyball team falls in four sets

The Eastern Florida State College women's volleyball team lost in four sets to the College of Central Florida Tuesday night at Titan Field House.

The College of Central Florida jumped out to a fast start, winning the first set 25-13. Laura Azevedo served to begin the second set and got the Titans off to a 6-0 start. Ariel Letcher had a couple of big kills giving the Titans an 11-4 lead.

Up 15-7, Letcher took the ball and had eight straight points including two aces and the Titans rolled to a 25-10 win to tie things 2-2.

The third set was tight early as the two teams traded points as sophomore Carley Gregory had an ace of her own and a couple of kills but the Patriots went on to win 25-17.

The Patriots took an early lead in the fourth set but Gregory had a nice kill and then an ace to cut the lead to 14-12 but that was as close as the Titans would get, falling 25-16.

The Titans, who are 3-11 overall and 0-3 in the conference, will host ninth-ranked Polk State College on Thursday night at Titan Field House. Admission is free and the match will be shown live on the EFSC Titans YouTube page.
