Volleyball team faces two of top teams in Region Saturday

The Eastern Florida State College women's volleyball team play two of the top teams in the state this weekend.

The Titans were scheduled to go to a tournament at FSC Jacksonville, but it was cancelled so they will head to Palm Beach State College on Saturday for two matches. Eastern Florida State College will open against the host at 11 a.m. and then play the No. 1 team in the country, Miami Dade at 1 p.m.

"We saw both of these teams in preseason and know that we have our work cut out for us," Eastern Florida State College women's volleyball coach Andrea Twelvetrees said. "Palm Beach is always a tough team to beat and will give us a good match up.  This is a great opportunity to see how we match up against the #1 team in the country. They are very talented and we have been working very hard on our defense and pushing the pace of the play in transition. It has every opportunity to be a great weekend for us to rise to the occasion."

Freshman Nyasia John is among the Region 8 leaders in blocks per set, averaging 1.07 while sophomore Erin Arbour is averaging 4.3 digs per set. Sophomore duo Ariel Letcher and Carley Gregory are in the top 10 in Region 9 in kills per set.

The Titans will be on the road for three more matches before returning to Titan Field House on Sept. 28 against Webber International JV.
