Volleyball team hits road for tri-match at Santa Fe this weekend

The Eastern Florida State College women's volleyball team hits the road this weekend for a tri-match in Gainesville on Saturday.

The Titans will play Florida Gateway in the first match and then have a rematch with host Santa Fe College. In the first matchup last weekend, the two teams traded points for most of the match but Santa Fe picked up the win.

"Florida Gateway should be a good match for us to start the day. They are a defensive team that will force us to be creative on offense," Eastern Florida State College women's volleyball coach Andrea Twelvetrees said. "We are improving each time we step on the floor so I am excited to see what we can accomplish.  If our defense improves and we are able to push the pace of our offense I think we will be able to see some success."

Freshmen Nyasia John and Maddy Campbell are among the Region 8 leaders in blocks per set after three matches and sophomore Carley Gregory is averaging 3.3 kills per set.

Saturday's tri-match is the first of 10 straight road matches for the volleyball team who will not be back at Titan Field House until Sept. 28 when they host Webber International JV.
