Volleyball team picks up win against Webber International JV

The Eastern Florida State College women's volleyball team rebounded with a four-set victory over Webber International University JV on Thursday night at Titan Field House in Melbourne.

The Titans, who lost the conference opener on Tuesday night, picked up their eighth win of the season 25-14, 23-25, 25-20, 25-23.

Eastern Florida State came out strong, grabbing the early 10-4 lead and went on to pick up the first set win. The second set was tight throughout with the teams being tied eight times in the set. Webber International would even the match at one set apiece.

But the Titans rebounded behind the strong serving of Barbara Cabo Grubisic, who scored the final three points as the Titans took a 2-1 lead. The Titans had to battle back from 17-20 and pulled out the 25-23 win to improve to 8-3 on the season.

Rachael Gunn led the Titans with 14 kills and four blocks while Kylie Hurst had 10 kills and four blocks. Carley Gregory had eight kills and two aces and Elisa Pauzer added seven kills, three blocks and an ace. Grubisic finished with 42 assists, three blocks and two kills.

The Titans will travel to Lake Sumter for a Mid-Florida Conference matchup on Tuesday night before returning to Titan Field House Thursday for a conference match against Daytona State College.
