Five volleyball players recognized by Southern Conference

Five Eastern Florida State College women's volleyball players were honored by the Southern Conference.

"We were very fortunate to have so many girls recognized for their hard work this season," Eastern Florida State College volleyball coach Andrea Rasmussen said. "Both Malvis and Megan were recognized in their freshmen years, but they deserved to be recognized as two of the top twelve athletes in the southern conference.  They have both contributed so much in their time here and I am so glad to see them applauded for their efforts."

Graefe finished the season ranked 57th in the NJCAA in digs with 411 and 29th in the nation in digs per set, averaging 4.84.

Ortiz finished with 242 kills and 51 total blocks. Ortiz averaged 2.88 kills per set which ranks 62nd in the nation.

Smith finished her freshman season with 142 kills, 241 digs & 13 assists while Gunn had 197 kills, 134 digs and 24 service aces.

Bomfim delivered 568 assists, ranking 68th in the nation with 205 digs and was 41st for assists per set at 7.38.

"I am proud of our two freshmen outside hitters, Delany and Rachael and have high expectations for them next year," Rasmussen said. "Ludmila came in and really solidified the setter position for us and will be hard to replace."
