Titans volleyball team falls to Palm Beach State

The Eastern Florida State College women's volleyball team lost to nationally-ranked No. 13 Palm Beach State in four sets Thursday night at Titan Field House.

The Titans came out fast, jumping out to a 6-2 lead behind the duo of Malvis Ortiz and Rachael Gunn, but Palm Beach State stormed back to tie things 7-7.

From there the Titans went on a 7-0 run and led until Palm Beach State tied it 20-20. Tied 24-24, Delaney Smith and Ortiz had kills to give the Titans a 26-24 first set win.

Palm Beach State came out and took the next two sets 13-25 and had a five-point lead in the fourth set but the Titans made one final run and got the score to 11-12 but the Panthers finished the set and match, winning 25-17.

Ortiz finished with 11 kills while Gunn had 10.

Eastern Florida State is now 11-7 overall and fall to 1-3 in the Southern Conference. The Titans will have a break before hosting Broward College on Oct. 1 at 3 p.m.
