Women's tennis team picks up fifth straight win

The Eastern Florida State College women's tennis team defeated the State College of Florida, Manatee on Saturday afternoon at Titan Tennis Center.

The Titans have now won five in a row after the 7-2 victory on Saturday.

Eastern Florida State College's No. 1 doubles team of Emma Sanchez and Lucia Lucas won 8-2 and the No. 3 doubles duo of Emma Martinez and Sara Ladino also picked up an 8-2 win to give the Titans a 2-1 lead heading into singles.

Sanchez won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles while Lucas won 6-4, 7-5 at No. 3 and Maria Gento was victorious 6-1, 6-3 at No. 4 singles. Ladino won in a tiebreaker 10-6 after splitting two close sets 7-5 and 5-7. Thais Mitlemeier also won in a tiebreaker, 10-8 after losing the first set 6-4 and winning the second 6-4.

Eastern Florida State College will travel to Hillsborough Community College at 11 a.m. on Friday for a big Region 8 match before the FCSAA Region 8 State Tournament begins April 19.
