Women's tennis team falls short against Broward

The Eastern Florida State College women's tennis team fell short in a battle with Broward College on Saturday afternoon at Titan Tennis Center.

Four of the nine matches went to a tiebreaker with Broward edging the Ttans 5-4.

Tsveti Trifonova continued her strong play at No. 2 singles, picking up the straight set win 6-1, 6-2. Trifonova now has three wins at No. 2 singles this spring.

Trifonova and Vasavi Ganesan teamed up to win at No. 1 doubles 8-3.

The win once again came down to the final three matches on the court and all thre went to a third-set tiebreaker.

Valeria Arevalo split the first two sets 7-6(7-3), 1-6 forcing the third set at No. 4 singles. In the third, Arevalo took the final two points to pick up the 10-8 win.

Emma Othmer also split the first two sets, winning the first set 7-5 and losing second 6-3 at No. 5 single. But Othmer dominated the third set, winning 6-1 to pick up the win.

Ganesan lost the first set 2-6 but bounced back to win the second set 6-1 at No. 1 singles but Broward won the third set 6-3 to give Broward the win.

The Titans will travel to Pensacola to play Seward County Community College this weekend.
