EFSC women's tennis doubles team fall in quarterfinals

Eastern Florida State College doubles team of Valeria Arevalo and Shaeda Nickle lost in the quarterfinals of the ITA Regional Championship on Saturday.

The duo won the first match 8-6 but then lost to ASA Miami's Soomin Kim and Molly Helgesson 8-4 in the quarterfinals.

"They played well last night and today they had chances, so they are still learning how to close together but we are getting there," Eastern Florida State College women's tennis coach Bobby Cashman said. "They both played really well this weekend, we are a young group. I think we improved from last weekend to this weekend but we just have to keep growing."

Kim and Helgesson will play Hillsborough's Hannah Matic and Lolita Kozina in one semifinal while ASA Miami's Tatiana Simova and Michaela Krauskova will play Manatee's Zeba Jamal and Sara Ramirez-Goncalves in the other semifinal.

The singles championship match will kick off the final day of the tournament as ASA Miami's Simova will play teammate Helgesson. The winner will advance to the ITA National Championship Tournament in Indian Wells, California.

Then the doubles semifinals begin with the day finishing with the championship match in doubles.
