Women's tennis team falls to ASA Miami

The Eastern Florida State College women's tennis team lost a region match against ASA Miami at Titan Tennis Center in the team's final home match of the season Sunday.

It looked like th defending Region VIII champion ASA Miami may sweep the doubles matches but the No. 1 duo of Yuliana Monroy and Sarah Manseri stormed back from down 5-2 to take the lead at 6-5 after earning a break. ASA Miami battled back but Monroy held her serve to go up 7-5. ASA Miami would get it to 7-6 but Manseri served for the match giving the Titans a big point.

Dugleisy Linarez picked up a win at No. 3 singles, scoring an ace to finish her match with Claudia Barboza. Linarez won the match 6-4, 6-2.

Monroy and Lisa Khamassi battled through the first set with Monroy picking up the 7-6 win and would go on to win the second set 6-1.

The Titans will travel to Altamonte Springs for the Region VIII Tournament on Friday and Saturday. The top three teams will advance to the NJCAA National Championship Tournament in Waco, Texas May 6-11.
