Women's tennis team defeats St. Petersburg

The Eastern Florida State College women's tennis team defeated St. Petersburg 7-2 Friday afternoon at Titan Tennis Center.

Already up 2-0 in doubles, the No. 3 team of Emma Othmer and Jamie Duque came storming back after being down 5-2. The duo rattled off three straight points to tie the match at 5-5, then after St. Petersburg took the lead with a break, the Titans duo would break back and then win the next two for the 8-6 win.

Up 3-0, Othmer continued her strong play with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles.

Yuliana Monroy, who teamed with Sarah Manseri for a dominating win at No. 1 doubles, beat Satomi Momose in No. 1 singles 6-3, 6-4. Dugleisy Linarez would post a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 3 singles.

After taking the first set 6-3, Manseri and St. Petersburg's Josie Karcher battled in the second set with Manseri taking the win 7-6(6).

The Titans will travel to Broward College on Thursady and then travel to play ASA Miami on Friday. They will be back at Titan Tennis Center March 8 vs. Southern Indiana at 11 a.m.
