Women's tennis team tops Broward
The Eastern Florida State College women's tennis team picked up a big victory against Broward College Saturday at Titan Tennis Center.
With the match tied 4-4, freshman Emma Othmer battled back against Mariela Declet after losing the first set 3-6 to win 6-1, 6-3 and give the Titans a 5-4 win.
The Titans trailed 2-1 after doubles as the No. 1 duo of Yuliana Monroy and Sarah Manseri picked up the lone win 8-5.
Monroy also picked up a win at No. 1 singles, beating Bojana Petrovic 6-2, 6-3. Dugeisy Linarez also picked up a straight set win 6-3, 6-0 and Shaeda Nickle won 6-3, 6-2 setting up the big finish.
The women's tennis team is now No. 8 in the Oracle ITA Junior College Women's National Team Rankings and will host No. 4 St. Petersburg next Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. Admission is free to matches at Titan Tennis Center on the Melbourne campus.
