Women's tennis team looks sharp on first day of Juan Varon Invitational
The Eastern Florida State College women's tennis team fared well on the first day of the Juan Varon Wildcat Invitational at Florida Tennis Center in Daytona Beach Friday.
Yuliana Monroy got the Titans day started with a win in the Singles B Flight as Monroy started slow but got things going against Stetson's Vicky Geurinckx, winning the match 6-3, 6-0.
Monroy would team with Dugleisy Linarez in the A Flight doubles to defeat Arijana Korac and Geurinckx 6-4. Linarez had a bye in the first round of the A singles flight.
Jamie Duque would also pick up a win in the H Flight singles, defeating Lydia Carter 6-4, 6-3.
The team will compete in Day 2 of the tournament beginning at 9 a.m.
