Women's tennis team hosts ITA Regional Championships beginning Friday
The top teams from around the state will be playing in the 2017 ITA Regional Championships at Eastern Florida State College's Titan Tennis Center on the Melbourne campus.
The three-day tournament begins Friday morning with singles and doubles titles on the line. The tournament continues all weekend with the finals slated for Sunday.
Hillsborough Community College's Ceire Mullins is the overall No. 1 seed in the singles with Eastern Florida State College's Yuliana Monroy the No. 2 seed.
Mullins and teammate Hana Kvapilova are the No. 1 seed in doubles as well.
"The seedings are based on last year's rankings so it will be interesting to see how things shake out and who plays well but there are many good players in this tournament," Eastern Florida State College women's tennis coach Bobby Cashman said.
Eastern Florida State College's Sarah Manseri comes into the tournament as the No. 4 seed and has a bye in the first round.
Dugleisy Linarez also has a bye in the first round while teammate Jaime Duque will face Hillsborough's Hannah Matic and Shaeda Nickle faces State College of Florida Manatee's Diarra Thomas in the first round which will begin at 8:30 a.m.
Admission to the tournament is free.
