Titans lose on the road, but Zilles’ win streak continues

Freshman Ann-Kathrin Zilles continued her hot streak, but the Eastern Florida State College women's tennis team could not find its way past No. 7 State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota on Friday, losing 6-3 on the road.

Zilles, from Friedrichshafen, Germany, won her 10th consecutive singles match when she defeated Maria Zubkova 6-2, 6-2 at No. 5 singles.

It was the only win on the court for the Titans, who won at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles by default.

"Ann-Kathrin has been a terrific contributor for us," EFSC coach Jerry Thor said. "She fights hard to win and has consistently performed every time out."

EFSC is now 10-8 on the season and 4-7 in Florida College System Activities Association Athletics Region 8 play.

The Titans will play at No. 6 Broward on Saturday, April 2 in their final regular-season match.
