Titans Fall to Visiting Slippery Rock

March 11, 2016 – It was a disappointing day for the Eastern Florida State College women's tennis team.

After taking two of three doubles matches against NCAA Division II opponent Slippery Rock University, the Titans appeared to be in control of the match heading into singles play.

However, Slippery Rock dominated singles action and went on to defeat EFSC 6-3 at the Titan Tennis Complex.

"After coming away with two decisive victories in doubles, I'm very disappointed to only manage three sets across six singles matches," Titans coach Jerry Thor said.

The No. 2 doubles team of Katharina Drebka and Nicole Trio and the No. 3 team of Giulianna Hull and Ann-Kathrin Zilles won their matches by scores of 8-2 and 8-3.

However, in singles play, only Zilles was victories for EFSC, winning her match at No. 5 singles over Stephanie Fortier 6-2, 6-4.

The Titans (6-5) return to action Saturday at 4 p.m. mwhen they host No. 8 Hillsborough in a Florida College System Activities Association Athletics Region 8 match at the Titan Tennis Complex.

Admission is free.
