The Eastern Florida State College women's soccer team's rally fell short on Thursday night at Orlando Health Stadium.
The 13th-ranked Titans were down 2-0 with the clock winding down but Phoebe Wilson hit a nice corner kick to Lili Baidoe who headed it toward the goal. Tiggi Gent stepped in front of the keeper and redirected it into the back of the net.
But with three minutes and 29 seconds left, the Titans could not find the equalizer and fell 2-1 to the No 10 Tribunes.
It looked like the Titans were going to take the early lead three minutes into the contest, but the Monroe Community College goalkeeper Clare Boesel made the first of a couple outstanding saves in the contest.
Sam Cipolla hit a shot past a diving Jessica Reis nine minutes into the contest to give the Tribunes a 1-0 lead. Early in the second half it would be Cipolla once again as Monroe Community College held a 2-0 lead.
In the earlier game, the Miami Dade College women's soccer team defeated Southwestern Illinois College 3-0 as The Sharks scored once in the first half and then two more times in the second half.
Monroe Community College, who is now 9-0-1 on the season and ranked 10th in the nation, will be back in action Saturday morning against No. 17 Miami Dade beginning at 9:30 a.m. It will be the first of four games at Orlando Health Stadium on Saturday.
The Eastern Florida State College women's soccer team will host Southwestern Illinois College at 7 p.m. All of the games at Orlando Health Stadium are free of charge and the games will also be shown live online at the EFSC Titans YouTube page.
