Laura Cetina named to NJCAA Division I All-America First Team

Eastern Florida State College women's soccer player Laura Cetina was named to the NJCAA Division I All-America first team on Tuesday.

The sophomore midfielder from A Corona, Galicia, Spain led the Titans to a 12-3 record and their 12th straight trip to the national tournament. At the national tournament Cetina scored four goals in the three games as the Titans reached the national tournament semifinals for the sixth straight season.

For the season Cetina scored 13 times and had three assists.

Cetina finished her two seasons with the Titans with two trips to the national tournament, winning a national championship in 2021 where she was the tournament Most Valuable Player as well as making the all-tournament team this season. The midfielder was also the United Soccer Coaches National Player of the Year in 2021.

"To me as good as she is and with all of her accolades, I still think she is an underrated player," Eastern Florida State College women's soccer coach Scott Carswell said. "She is such a great player, her leadership on the field and her ability to come up clutch in key situations is really amazing."

The NJCAA Division I All-America honor rounds out one of the most decorated two-year careers in Titans program history. Cetina scored 18 goals in 25 games with the Titans and started in 24 of those contests. In the classroom, Cetina was named to the third team NJCAA All-Academic team last year.
