Women's soccer team loses in Region 8 semifinals

The Eastern Florida State College women's soccer team lost to Daytona State College Friday night in the semifinals of the Region 8 Conference Tournament at Daytona State College.

The Titans, who finish the season 10-2 overall and are the No. 2-ranked team in the country, lost 2-0 to host Daytona State College. They will await news on whether they will receive an at-large bid to the NJCAA Division I National Championship Tournament.

On Friday night, Daytona State College scored on a long free kick one minute into the contest and it remained 1-0 throughout as Eastern Florida State College had 19 shots in the game.

With one second remaining in the contest, Daytona State made it 2-0 to advance to the Region 8 Conference Championship game for the fourth straight year. They will face Polk State College for the title on Sunday night.

It marks the first time the Titans are not in the final in the past 10 seasons.

The Titans will wait to see if they get a chance to defend the national championship the program won last year.
