Women's soccer team defeats Daytona State in overtime

The Eastern Florida State College women's soccer team defeated Daytona State College in overtime Saturday at Orlando Health Stadium.

With the game tied 2-2, Kailey Dunne finds an open Mia Lewis who took a couple of dribbles and hit a shot into the far corner of the net to give the Titans a win and an unbeaten home season for the No. 2 ranked Titans.

It looked like Daytona State College may take the early lead as they had a breakaway eight minutes into the match but defender Danielle Grenon was able to knock the ball away to keep the game scoreless.

After a couple of good looks, the Titans got on the board as Logan Humbert sent a nice corner kick to the middle of the box where Nancy Almanza headed it into the back of the net for a 1-0 lead.

Nine minutes later Daytona State College would tie the game on an Ariana Wilson goal.

It remained tied for a while but with 5:48 left in the second half, Humbert hit a great roundhouse kick that sailed into the net to give the Titans a 2-1 lead.

With 17:29 remaining in the game Daytona State College once again tied the match 2-2. It looked as if the Falcons would hit the game winner with 2:21 left but Adams made a diving save to keep the match tied.

The Titans finished the regular season 10-1 overall and 3-1 in the conference. They will move on to the Region 8 Conference Tournament next weekend.
