Women's soccer team hosts Daytona State in key conference game Saturday

The Eastern Florida State College women's soccer team wraps up the regular season Saturday night with a Region 8 Conference game with Daytona State College at Orlando Health Stadium.

A win will keep the Titans in first place in the conference heading into the Region 8 Tournament next weekend.

Eastern Florida State College is No. 2 in the latest NJCAA Division I poll and defeated Daytona State College 1-0 in the first meeting last weekend at Daytona State College.

In that game Laura Cetina scored the lone goal in the second half to give the Titans their ninth win of the season. It was the 10th goal of the season for Cetina who was named the United Soccer Coaches 2021 Women's Soccer Junior College National Player of the Year last season.

Teammate Nancy Almanza has six goals this season for the Titans.

Daytona State College comes into the contest 7-3-2 overall and 0-3 in the conference. The Falcons are led by the duo of Allison Worley and Wakaba Kogure who have 12 and 11 goals apiece respectively. The Falcons have scored 66 goals in 12 games this season.

The Titans have won the past 13 meetings with Daytona State College and Saturday night's game will be the final home game for the sophomore class.

Admission to Orlando Health Stadium is free and Saturday night's game will begin at 7 p.m. and be shown live locally on WEFS-TV, which is channel 9 or 455 on Spectrum, 68 on DirecTV, 30 on Dish and 68 on AT&T Uverse. The broadcast will also be shown live online at EFSC Titans YouTube page.
