Women's soccer team hits road Wednesday for Region 8 contest

The Eastern Florida State women's soccer team will travel to Polk State College Wednesday for a key Region 8 Conference match.

The No. 1 ranked Titans head into the matchup 8-0 overall and 1-0 in the conference after defeating Polk State in a highly-contested matchup 3-2 at Orlando Health Stadium. The defending national champions are coming off their biggest win of the season, a 13-1 win over Pasco-Hernando State College.

Polk State College is No 20 in the latest poll and is coming off a 5-2 victory against No. 13 Daytona State College and are now 9-1 overall and 1-1 in the conference. It marked the first time that Polk State College has beaten Daytona State. Marcella Koasne had two goals in the game for the Eagles.

Eastern Florida State College is led by sophomore Laura Cetina who has scored nine goals this season while teammate Nancy Almanza has scored in each of the past four games and has six on the season.

Wednesday's match will begin at 4 p.m. at Polk State College. The Titans will wrap up the regular season with a home-and-home with Daytona State College. Eastern Florida State College will travel to Daytona State on Oct. 15 and then host the Falcons on Oct. 22.
