Women's soccer coaching staff named National Coaching Staff of the Year

The Eastern Florida State College women's soccer coaching staff was named the 2021 Junior College National Staff and Coach of the Year.

Head coach Scott Carswell and assistant coaches Jordan Humbert, Sydney Drinkwater and Eddie Raleigh led the Titans to the program's first NJCAA Division I National Championship and finished with a 10-2-3 record.

"We are fortunate to have this staff and the thing that makes them the best is that they are not just going along with what I say, they voice their opinions and they come up with good ideas for how we can get better every day," Carswell said of his assistants. "I can trust them. They are on the same mission that I am and the fact that I have known them all, well I played with Eddie 35 years ago and have coached Jordan and Sydney since they were nine. Those are the kind of people you want to have around you as a head coach."

The staff was named the East Region Staff of the Year last week and coach Carswell recognized the entire Eastern Florida State College staff to have this kind of success.

"So many people work really hard behind the scenes that helped us be successful," Carswell said. "And I have to commend the EFSC coaches who really support each other and always reach out to each other, win or lose."

Ten of the 14 college staff award winners (seven men's and three women's staffs) claimed the national championship in their respective division in 2021.

The staff will be honored at the United Soccer Coaches Awards Banquet on Jan. 21, 2022 at the Kansas City Convention Center in conjunction with the United Soccer Coaches Convention.
