Five women's soccer players named to All-Region 8 team

Five members of the Eastern Florida State College women's soccer team we're named to the All-Region 8 Team recently.

Sophomore Morgan Miller was named the Player of the Year in the conference, finishing with a team-leading 17 goals and four assists this season for the Titans who went 16-1 and lost in the semifinals of the NJCAA Division I National Championship Tournament.

Francesca Espinoza was named the Freshman of the Year after scoring 11 goals and assisting on 11 others in her first season with the Titans.

Sophomore JJ Bryant joined Espinoza and Miller as unanimous choices on the first team.

Bryant helped the defense allow just seven goals in 17 games and the team recorded a program-record nine shutouts.

Goalkeeper Kiera Gibson was named to the second team. The Glasgow, Scotland native recorded a program-record nine shutouts this season and allowed just four goals in conference games this season. Gibson leaves EFSC as the record holder for shutouts in a season and for her career with 17.

Alexis Peri was also named to the second team. The sophomore from Satellite Beach started all 17 games and was the leader of the midfielders for the Titans, finishing with five assists.

Head coach Jeff Carr was named co-Coach of the Year in his final season as the women's soccer coach.
