Women's soccer team plays for spot in semifinals

A spot in the semifinals is on the line today at the NJCAA Division I National Championship Tournament at Orlando Health Stadium on the Melbourne campus of Eastern Florida State College.

The games begin at 10 a.m. with No. 1 seed Monroe College playing No. 8 seed Laramie County Community College for the first spot in the semifinals. 

Monroe College defeated Monroe Community College 4-1 on Monday and then Laramie County Community College eliminated Monroe CC with a 3-2 win on Tuesday.

At 12:30 p.m., No. 4 seed Lewis & Clark Community College will play for a spot in the semifinals when they play No. 5 Hill College in a Pool D game. Lewis & Clark defeated Navarro 2-0 and then Navarro defeated Hill College 4-1 on Tuesday. If Hill College wins, the pool will go to goal differential.

In Pool C, Tyler Junior College will play for a spot in the semifinals when they face Snow College at 3 p.m.

The third-seeded Apaches opened the tournament with a 3-0 win over Seminole State College and then the Trojans defeated No. 6 seed Snow College 1-0 on Tuesday. If Snow College wins, the pool would be decided by score differential.

The No. 2 seed Eastern Florida State College women's soccer team will play for the final spot in the semifinals when they play No. 7 seed Gillette College at 5:30 p.m. Both the Titans and Gillette College posted wins against CCBC Essex in Pool B games.

The national tournament semifinals will be at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Friday with the national championship game at 7 p.m. Saturday night. Tickets for the games can be purchased at the gate on the Melbourne campus. EFSC students will be admitted for free.
