Women's soccer team wins, advances to national tournament

For the eighth straight season the Eastern Florida State College women's soccer team is heading to the NJCAA Division I National Championship Tournament.

The Titans punched their ticket with a 5-0 win over Georgia Military in the Southeast District Championship Friday in Barnesville, Georgia.

Sophomore Kiera Gibson recorded her ninth shutout of the season which is a single-season record.

The Titans opened the scoring 18 minutes when freshman Julieta Limardo scored on an assist from Pala Garrido. Sophomore Morgan Miller made it 2-0 in the 33rd minute on an assist from Ella Newman. Then right before halftime Jaydee Seaman scored on an assist from Alexis Peri.

Francesca Espinoza made it 4-0 in the 56th minute on an assist from Viena Massale and Limardo scored her second goal of the day in the 65th minute on an assist from Yasmin Mason.

"It was a great weekend for our team and everyone contributed to our wins," Eastern Florida State College women's soccer coach Jeff Carr said. "We are excited to come home to play for a national championship."

The tournament will be held at Orlando Health Stadium on the Melbourne campus from Nov. 18-23.
