Women's soccer team posts program-record sixth straight shutout

The Eastern Florida State College women's soccer team set a program record Wednesday night, recording their sixth straight shutout.

The No. 3-ranked Titans defeated Polk State College 1-0 on Sophomore Night at Orlando Health Stadium on the Melbourne campus of Eastern Florida State College.

And the sophomores shined as goalkeeper Kiera Gibson picked up a clean sheet for the 14th time in her career which is also a program record with the help from sophomores JJ Bryant, Emily Bodi and freshmen Amiah Cirino and Ella Newman.

"It's great to break the program record but I could not have done it without my team, it has been a whole team effort and we have done really, really well defensively," Gibson said.

After going into halftime scoreless, Morgan Miller hit a rebound into the back of the net after the Polk State College goalkeeper made a save. It was Miller's fifth goal of the season.

The Titans improved to 6-0 overall and 4-0 in the Region 8 Conference with the win and honored the 11 sophomores after the match.

Eastern Florida State College will host Broward College Saturday night at 6 p.m. in the final regular-season home game of the season.
