Women's soccer team blanks Broward in conference opener

Freshman Francesca Espinoza's first college conference game could not have been better Saturday night.

Espinoza led the No. 3-ranked Eastern Florida State College women's soccer team to a 5-0 victory over Broward College in the Titans Region 8 Conference opener on the road.

The freshman from Viera scored in the first minute of the match as Julieta Limardo and Alexis Peri got the assist.

Espinoza then found sophomore Morgan Miller four minutes later to make it 2-0. Espinoza would go on to score two more goals in the first half and then found Miller once again as the Titans led 5-0 at halftime.

Sophomore goalkeeper Kiera Gibson posted the shutout, her third straight of the season.

The Titans, who improved to 3-0 overall and 1-0 in the conference, will be back at Titan Soccer Complex twice next week in conference games. On Wednesday night the Titans will face No. 8 Daytona State College at 6 p.m. and admission is free. Then on Saturday they will host ASA Miami at 6 p.m.
