Women's soccer team opens conference season Saturday on the road

The Eastern Florida State College women's soccer team will open the Region 8 Conference season Saturday night on the road.

The Titans, who are No. 3 in the latest NJCAA Division I poll and are 2-0 on the season, will travel to Broward College for a 6 p.m. game. The Seahawks are 0-1-1 overall and 0-1 in the conference after falling to ASA Miami on Tuesday head into Saturday's matchup in need of a win.

"It is hard to believe it is already time for the conference to begin; everyone in our conference has gotten much better and we have our hands full every time we play," Eastern Florida State College coach Jeff Carr said. "We need to be ready for every game as it will be a battle, starting Saturday night at Broward."

Eastern Florida State College has scored 10 goals in two games led by sophomore Josephine Monteiro and freshman Paula Garrido, who each have scored twice.

Broward played Southwestern Illinois to a 0-0 tie in Melbourne to start the season before losing 3-0 to ASA Miami earlier this week. The Titans won all three matchups last year and are 17-0 against Broward since 2013.

Eastern Florida State will be back at Titan Soccer Complex on Wednesday, Sept. 25 against Daytona State College at 6 p.m. and admission is free.
